Abstract:

A group of avian artefacts had been studied from the collections of the Archaeological Museum in Kraków. Some of the objects among the artefacts are made of bone, some are artefacts possessing utilitarian significance, while others are works of art related to magic and faith. They demonstrate the artistic abilities of the ancient creators, who came from cultures displaced in space and time. The medium and large birds coexisting with these people in their surroundings became the inspiration for such creations.
