  • Tatiana KRAKHMALNAYA

Abstract:

The hipparions of the Northern Black Sea coast area (Ukraine and Moldova) are reviewed. At present, twenty forms of hipparions are known from this area. The material analysed here comes from more than twenty localities of middle Sarmatian to late Kimmerian age. The author has used both unpublished and literature data. The hipparions in these faunas and their stratigraphie distribution are given. The presence in the middle Sarmatian of Ukraine (MN9) of two species of Hipparion is discussed.
