Periglacial micromammal faunas from the Late Pleistocene of Ukraine

Abstract:

This paper presents a reconstruction of environmental conditions in the Late Pleistocene of Ukraine based on the qualitative and quantitative composition of the small mammal fauna, the study of morphological features of extinct species (mostly molar teeth of Arvicolidae) and the distribution of different ecological groups. Questions regarding the adaptations and origin of the Recent small mammal fauna are discussed.
