Comparative analysis of the characters of the first lower molar in Microtus (Terricola) thomasi (Rodentia, Arvicolidae)

Abstract:

Morphometric characteristics of M₁ of Microtus thomasi show significant differences from other Mediterranean ground voles (M. lusitanicus, M. duodecimcostatus, M. pyrenaicus, M. savii). The morphological and chromosomal data may indicate that M. thomasi should be distinguished as a separate species group of the subgenus Terricola.
