Abstract:
Studies of the breeding avifauna of the Faunistic Lake Iłgi Reserve were carried out for 6 years altogether, in 19760-1972 and 1986-1988. A total of 113 species were found during that period, 89 of them nesting within the bounds of the reserve. The lake and peatswamps were inhabited by 30 species, e.g. from among Anseriformes: Bucephala clangula, Mergus merganser and Anser anser, from among the Rallidae: Porzana porzana and P. parva, Milvus migrans, Tringa ochropus, Ficedula parva, Columba oenas, etc. nested in the surrounding wet alderwoods and oak-pine woods.
