Fossil rodents (Rodentia, Mammalia) from the Seľ-Ungur Acheulian cave site (Kirghizstan)

  • Anastasia MARKOVA

Abstract:

Several characteristic species are present in this multilayered cave site, such as Ellobius ex gr. tancrei, Meriones libycus selunguricus, Alticola argentatus, Microtus (Neodon) ex gr. juldaschi and others together with numerous Acheulian artefacts and the remains of molars and a fragment of the skull of Homo erectus. The fauna most likely is of Middle Pleistocene age.
