Abstract:
A survey was made of house dust mites from dwellings, hospitals and some public utilities (libraries, research laboratories) in several Upper Silesian towns. More than 30 mite species were found of which the most abundant and common were pyroglyphids, Dermatophagoides farinae and D. pteronyssinus. The majority of mites (97.65%) were found in samples from dwellings, especially in dust from upholstery furniture, couches, sofas and beds.
