Chionodes meridiochilensis sp. nov. from Chile: contribution to an understanding of its biology and description of its early stages (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)

Abstract:

Chionodes meridiochilensis sp.nov. is described from south central Chile from larvae collected in January 2011. In addition, the present paper describes the morphology and the chaetotaxy of the fifth instar larva, as well as the pupa. Data is also presented on the bionomics of this new gelechiid species, including feeding strategies and food-plant.
