Abstract:

Struthio dmanisensis sp. n. has been described on the basis of a femur from the Lower Pleistocene deposits of Dmanisi in eastern Georgia. The bone is larger and stouter than in the present-day Ostrich. Its stoutness suggests affinity to S. pannonicus.
