Abstract:
Baisococcus victoriae gen. e t sp.n. from Siberian (Zabaikalia) Lower Cretaceous (Neocomian) deposits is described and illustrated on the basis of a single male specimen. The endoplalus, tubular ducts and their wax products, antennae, anterior margins of wings and some sclerites of head, thorax and abdomen are relatively well preserved in this fossil coccid which seems to be close to the recent Xylococculus, but shares also some characteristics with Orthezia, Marchalina, Neosteingelia and Callipappus. Current problems and prospects of coccid paleontology are briefly discussed.
