Abstract:
Numerous shells of Physa acuta are found in sand with coal grains in the Vistula river near Tyniec (South Poland). They are distinctly differentiated in size and shape so that some specimens are similar to other species of the genus Physa, Traces of migration and adaptation of the mentioned snail in Central Europe are discussed. Their occurrence in the Vistula river is connected with the heating of water by a power station built in 1958, which determines the lower age limit of sediments with athropogenic material.
