Abstract:
The description of a new species of Siphonaptera, Caenopsylla eremita sp.n . (Leptopsyllidae), a parasite of Massoutiera mzabi (Lataste 1881) (Rodentia: Ctenodactylidae) is given. The material was collected in Assekrem and Tassili N’Ajjer in Ahaggar Mts region, Central Sahara (Algeria). The new species, of Palaearctic affinities, is intermediate between C. laptevi and C. mira. The evolution, at least secondary, of the genus Caenopsylla, at the expense of the Ctenodactylidae is confirmed by this new taxon.
