The Mites (Acarina) of Small Mammals of the Pieniny Mts., Poland
Abstract:
A total of 61 species of mites occurring on rodents and insectivores in the Pieniny Mts. are discussed. Neotrombicula earis is new to the Polish fauna. The acarinium of small mammals of the Pieniny Mts. is characterized by its set of trombiculid species, the richest in this country, the presence of such rare species as Neopodocimum mrciaki and Olopachys suecicus, the small number of frigostable species (Laelaps clethrionomydis and Neotrombicula zachvatkini) and the particularly small number of Ixodes ricinus.
