Abstract:
The paper contains a histological description of the hair of Polish and exotic representatives of the family Gliridae and the key to the identification of species within this family, based on the structure of the medulla, the cuticular scale patterns and the shape of the cross-sections. Six genera have been described out of which four are known in Poland: Eliomys, Dryomys, Glis and Muscardinus. The remaining two genera are the Glirulus known from Japan, and Myomimus found in Central Asia and South East Europe.
